¿LA GANADERÍA CONSECUENCIA DE LA MUERTE DE LOS BOSQUES?
Si bien hay otras actividades agropecuarias lícitas que también producen importantes impactos ambientales, aquí vamos a referirnos al de la ganadería, que por su cobertura a nivel nacional, produce grandes impactos ambientales en Colombia
El sector bovino colombiano es considerado un renglón socioeconómico de gran importancia por la generación de empleo e impulso al desarrollo social y con una representativa contribución al crecimiento de la economía colombiana.
La ganadería bovina ocupa la mayor parte de las tierras explotadas de Colombia; en su actividad, desarrolla acciones como la tala y quema de bosques, el monocultivo de gramíneas, la desecación de humedales, la demanda creciente de madera para construcciones, la deposición de residuos orgánicos en el agua y en el suelo, la emisión de gases, etc., cuyos sucesos generan impactos de especial consideración sobre los recursos naturales y el medio ambiente, a la vez conducen a desequilibrios naturales de considerable importancia.
Colombia cuenta con 40 millones de hectáreas dedicadas a la ganadería y 25 millones de cabezas de ganado, dando un factor de tan solo 0,4 cabezas de ganado por hectárea, siendo que en países con ganaderías desarrolladas se tiene de 3 a 4 cabezas por hectárea.

Esto demuestra la baja competitividad de Colombia en el sector ganadero, por consiguiente aumenta la desolación ambiental con el fenómeno conocido como POTRERIZACIÓN DE COLOMBIA, el cual lleva a la tala indiscriminada de grandes cantidades de bosques, para convertir estas zonas en potreros y mostrando cada vez más el rompimiento del ciclo del agua, pues los bosques funcionan como esponjas en las épocas de invierno. Es así que al haber torrenciales aguaceros se presentan las conocidas inundaciones, ya que al no existir las esponjas (Bosques), toda el agua de las lluvias corre inmediatamente a los caudales de los ríos, generando los desastres naturales como los que se presentaron en el 2005 en la ciudad de Girón, Santander.
Claro está, que la ganadería no es la única causa de la tala de los bosques, pues en segundo lugar y de gran impacto están los campos de narcóticos que genera este hecho.
Por estas razones, creemos que el Ministerio de Agricultura debe emitir campañas que incentiven a los ganaderos cómo debe ser la distribución de los bovinos por hectárea, esto se hace necesario para que no se presenten atentados contra el medio ambienta; consiguiendo de esta manera un mayor aprovechamiento de las tierras con el ganado, además se logra la conservación de los bosques que están presentes en cada territorio.
Por estas razones, creemos que el Ministerio de Agricultura debe emitir campañas que incentiven a los ganaderos cómo debe ser la distribución de los bovinos por hectárea, esto se hace necesario para que no se presenten atentados contra el medio ambienta; consiguiendo de esta manera un mayor aprovechamiento de las tierras con el ganado, además se logra la conservación de los bosques que están presentes en cada territorio.
